Includes a two hour chauffeured drive through Havana in a famous old American car - a fantastic and unique experience not to be missed!!!
Taking in the essential sights of Old Havana, our full day city tour captures the colonial spirit of Cuba’s remarkable capital city. Dating back to the 16th century, Old Havana is steeped in history and flanked by old colonial buildings. Our walking tour takes you to the impressive Museum of the Revolution housed in the former Presidential Palace, where you can learn more about Cuba’s revolutionary history leading up the present day.
Continuing past the impressive Capitolio building and through the fascinating narrow cobblestone streets in the heart of the old city, we will make many stops to admire the sights. We will continue with a visit to Conde de villanueva which includes: an explanation and demonstration of rolling a cigar by a specialist, how to select a good cigar and how to light it, tasting a Cuban coffee and Cuban Rum. Clients can choose one cigar of Guantanamera Cristal or Romeo & Juliet no. 2.
The tour will conclude with visits to the historic squares Plaza de Armas and Plaza de la Catedral, both of which preserve a charming colonial ambiance and some of the finest architecture in Cuba.
Lunch will be included at the impressive El Patio restaurant or Paladar La Moneda Cubana located by the Plaza de la Cathedral, which is a truly unique setting for lunch.
Following lunch and a short walk through the craft market, the tour will continue through Old Havana towards the harbour with stops at Plaza de San Francisco and the small garden dedicated to Princess Diana and Mother Teresa. We then arrive at the Havana Club rum museum where there is a fascinating insight into the history of Cuba’s famous drink and its production process, with of course the chance to sample the finished product!
The Old American Cars will be waiting to take you on a unique panoramic drive along the Malecon promenade towards Morro Cabana (Castle). The castle guards the entrance to Havana’s harbour and offers magnificent views across to the Havana skyline. Continuing by Old American car along the length of the Malecon, there will be an absorbing drive through Miramar, which is an elegant area of the city with large colonial mansions, now housing many Embassies. We then return to Revolution Square. This is a highly significant landmark in Havana and overlooked by the famous Che Guevara Mural. A stop shall be made at the Jose Marti memorial and some time will be allowed for you to walk around the area before driving through the heart of Havana to the Parque Central hotel where the tour sadly ends!
Sunday tours can be arranged at a supplement, however due to the Sunday closure of the Conde de Villanueva, the tour will visit the tobacco shop at the Hotel Tryp Habana Libre.
Please note - the tour will not run on 25th December as this date is a national holiday.
