Bayamo

The town of Bayamo, founded in 1513 by Captain Diego Velázquez, was the cradle of Cuba’s National Anthem and also the birth place of Cuban patriot, Carlos Manuel de Cespedes.

Bayamo is the capital of Granma and the town is centred around Parque Cespedes which contain long marble benches and statues of Carlos Manuel de Cespedes and Perucho Figueredo.

Built in the colonial style, it has public squares, majestic mansions and a very old cathedral.
